AZPE Scholarship and Mini-Grant

ARIZONA PROFESSIONAL EDUCATORS
APPLICATION DIRECTIONS
CLASSROOM IMPROVEMENT MINI-GRANT

Amount available: up to a maximum of $500.

Allowable Uses for AZPE Classroom Improvement Mini-Grant Funds:

Mini-Grants can be used to pay for a wide variety of projects and materials, including supplies, materials, books, software, equipment, audio-visual, and technology. (Grants cannot fund salaries or stipends).  Documentation of expenditures must be provided to AZPE within one year of being selected for the Mini-Grant.

 Eligibility:

These Classroom Mini-Grants are available to all educators.  Awards are competitive. AZPE members are given first preference; however, mini-grants are not limited to AZPE members.

How to Apply:

Submit FOUR copies of your application with the cover page and include:

  • A brief professional resumé listing academic background, employment history, membership in professional associations, and any awards or honors received.
  • A short narrative answering the questions listed below.

(This narrative should be typed and organized with each question clearly identified.)

1) How and when will these Classroom Improvement Mini-Grant funds be used? Please describe the class project, its purpose, and educational goals.  Provide an itemized list of needed materials and their costs. Documentation from vendor catalogues or price lists is encouraged.

2) What needs will this proposal address? Describe your objectives and how this award will benefit the students in your classroom.  Sample lesson plans are a plus.

3) How will you evaluate the effectiveness of your project?

4) Describe how you plan to share this activity with other teachers at your school in order to maximize the benefit for students.

5) Please describe your best idea for raising the professionalism of teaching as a career;  Or, discuss how having a choice of professional organizations benefits teachers, students, and public education as a free marketplace of ideas.

6) If you are an AZPE member, please describe briefly your primary reasons for joining AZPE.

Details on Mini-Grant Award Payment Options:

Mini-Grant recipients will be reimbursed up to $500 in approved expenses documented within one year after being selected. With sufficient advance notice, AZPE can also remit the award directly to the vendors involved. Or, if district policy requires, the Mini-Grant can be awarded directly to the school.  

PROFESSIONAL GROWTH SCHOLARSHIP

Amount Available: up to a maximum of $250.

Allowable Uses for Scholarship Funds:

Tuition, books, classroom materials, conference or workshop registration fees, or travel expenses to professional development activities. Activities may occur anytime between September 1 and August 31 of current school year.

Eligibility:

Scholarships are available to all educators & support staff.  Awards are competitive.  AZPE members are given first preference; however, these scholarships are not limited to AZPE members.

2) Explain briefly the professional needs this scholarship will address. How will these scholarship funds help advance your own professional career and benefit the students in your classroom?

3) Please describe your best idea for raising the professionalism of teaching as a career; Or, discuss how having a choice of professional organizations benefits teachers, students, and public education as a free marketplace of ideas.

4) If you are an AZPE member, please describe briefly your primary reasons for joining AZPE.

Details on Scholarship Payment and/or Reimbursement:

Those teachers/support staff members awarded scholarships will be reimbursed for up to $250 in approved expenses documented between September 1 and August 31 of this school year.  With sufficient advance notice, AZPE can also remit the award directly to the institution providing the workshop or conference.
